Jose Mourinho is believed to be closing in on the Old Trafford hotseat with a high profile football figure privately describing the move as a ‘done deal’.
The Manchester Evening News report that Varane is among a list of potential defensive signings while Spanish newspaper AS go further saying the France international will be Mourinho’s top target should he get the job.
Mourinho is a long-term admirer of the 22-year-old having signed him when in charge of Real Madrid in 2011.
