IN the spirit of Christmas celebration, Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered 20 serving prisoners in Abia State, who were convicted for offences ranging from stealing, armed robbery, conspiracy, intent to commit felony, advanced fee fraud, indecent assault, violence threat, among others, to be set free. The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Umeh Kalu, who made this known, said the decision to free the prisoners, who were serving their terms in Aba, Umuahia, Port Harcourt and Enugu Prisons, was sequel to the recommendation of the state Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, which he chairs. He, however, urged the beneficiaries to be law-abiding and collaborate with other Abians in the quest for a better future for the state and country.
