[INTERVIEW] G-PLUS CHANG INTERVIEW WITH @JAYPULSE01 FOR AMEBOOF9JA

WE REALLY FEEL BLESSED TO HAVE G-PLUS IN THE HOUSE 

JAYPULSE: First question is the cliché question tell us about yourself boss?

G-Plus: Abraham Chang Davou, you all know me as G-plus or G-PlusChang. I’m the personal sound engineer to MI Abaga, also in house engineer at Chocolate City Music Lagos. And CEO So-Tight Entertainment

JAYPULSE: So boss how and when did you started music production, tell us the beginning story?

G-Plus: I think for me it began in the last quarter of 2008, but then I hadn’t learnt enough and I took a year break from it cos I  was studying in Cyprus by 2009… So professionally I started in 2011 while studying audio engineering at SAE institute in Bangkok, Thailand.

JAYPULSE: Awesome that’s four years now?

G-Plus: Thereabout, yes

JAYPULSE: Now as a producer what is the main challenge studio engineers in Nigeria are facing in terms of working equipment and gadget?

G-Plus: Its no secret that our sound has and still suffers a certain lack of quality due to lack of high end gears… Most engineers including myself still work on just laptops or cheap audio interfaces… its really hard to attain a certain level of quality in ones sound cos these said gears are very expensive

JAYPULSE: Do you really think there is a way out of this fix, and if yes how soon?

G-Plus: We’ve seen the music industry grow over the last 10 years into a very lucrative business, so investors are starting to invest in top quality music… so yes, we need more investors I think in the next 10 years we can really boast of quality sounds

JAYPULSE: Let’s talk work, how did u come start working at Loopy Music and subsequently Chocolate City?

G-Plus: Got introduced by jeremiah Gyang to MI Abaga while he (MI) was visiting Jos in mid 2013, we exchanged contacts and later that year MI asked me to move to Lagos to work on his album (THE CHAIRMAN ALBUM) the rest is history

JAYPULSE: Is there a difference between Lagos and Jos in the music game?

G-Plus: Isn’t that obvious

JAYPULSE: Lol yeah… I have been waiting to ask this question, your single “Blessing” featuring Milli, Koker and Dice ailes  of Chocolate City is getting a lot of buzz now on radio tell us about the single?

G-Plus: Well… honestly… I made that beat in about 20mins and had Milli just vibe on it… but not being able to decide on which of the  over 10 potential features to put on the track, I kept going back and forth hence the delay… in the end I went for Koker and Dice Ailes… And being spontaneous person that I am , I just work one morning 3 weeks to my birthday and decided I was gonna finish it up and put it out… so I made it as a birthday present for myself

JAYPULSE: I have heard the song and I most say it is really amazing

G-Plus: Thank you very much

JAYPULSE: Boss you are also a label executive at So-tight Records what is cooking at So-Tight Records, any project for us to watch out for again after your single?

G-Plus: its So-Tight Entertainment, not Records…and we’re working on a lot of music. I cant let you on anything for now. But expect something soon.

JAYPULSE: Correction taken So-Tight Entertainment… on a final note boss between Manchester united and Chelsea football club which is timeless?

G-Plus: #GGMU (MAN U)

JAYPULSE: Boss any word of advice to upcoming, Producers, Studio Engineers and Musicians?    

G-PLUS: Put God first, work hard and stay committed and focused!
